On 10 June 2026, a dedicated meeting focusing on the future of microelectronics was held within the framework of the “CHIPS of Europe” project. The event was organised by the Centre for Research and Analysis in partnership with Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” and brought together students, academics, and experts in the field of high technologies.
The demonstration forum, held under the theme “Chip Packaging and Assembly”, provided participants with an opportunity to explore the latest trends, technological developments, and future perspectives in microelectronics – a strategic sector that plays a key role in Europe’s digital transformation, competitiveness, and technological sovereignty.
A special guest speaker at the event was Dr. Teodora Varbanova, who presented up-to-date knowledge, innovative approaches, and best practices in the field of chip technologies. Her presentation generated strong interest among students and encouraged active discussions on the future of semiconductor technologies, career opportunities, and the role of young professionals in building Europe’s microelectronics ecosystem.
The participants had the opportunity to exchange ideas, discuss current challenges and opportunities in the semiconductor sector, and gain deeper insights into the processes involved in the design, production, packaging, and assembly of modern semiconductor components.
The “CHIPS of Europe” project is implemented with the financial support of the European Digital Europe Programme and the Ministry of Innovation and Digital Transformation. The initiative aims to foster the development of knowledge, skills, and innovation in the strategic field of microelectronics, while supporting the preparation of a new generation of highly qualified specialists capable of meeting the growing needs of the European technology industry.
Through initiatives such as this, the “CHIPS Europe” project strengthens cooperation between academia, research organisations, and industry, contributing to the creation of a sustainable, innovative, and competitive semiconductor ecosystem in Europe.
