Lecture and Career Guidance Discussion at 203 “St. Methodius” Specialized High School

203 St. Methodius

The Centre for Research and Analysis (CRA), represented by Deyan Yalamov, presented the Chips of Europe project and discussed career opportunities with 11th-grade students at 203 “St. Methodius” High School in Sofia. The school offers specialized training in the use of advanced geographic and spatial information systems, which are closely linked to the development of autonomous drones, communication technologies, artificial intelligence, and high-performance computing - all of which are strongly dependent on the evolution of microelectronics, the semiconductor industry, and the broader chip economy.

Deyan Yalamov, as a student of Economics and Business Administration, explained how the development of modern technologies impacts the economy and why future professionals across different fields - not only engineers - need to understand key trends in microelectronics.

An increasing number of companies in this sector in Bulgaria, such as Sensata, Melexis, Milara, IMI, and others, rely on multidisciplinary teams in their R&D and logistics centres.

Mr. Yalamov also answered numerous questions about applying to Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” and the Technical University of Sofia, as well as what it means to be a student entrepreneur. He discussed the types of support students can expect when developing innovative entrepreneurial ideas, both in a market context and in relation to social entrepreneurship and social innovation.
